FRIDAY FLYING VIDEO: George Lucas's Red Tails trailer

An exciting preview of Red Tails, the forthcoming World War II aviation film about the famed the Tuskegee Airmen, from legendary filmmaker George Lucas.

We don't know about you, but here at Australian Flying we consider ourselves film fanatics, and we're always excited by any news of a new aviation-related major film release. It's been a bit of a dry spell since Martin Scorsese's brilliant 2004 Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator, which garnered our very own Cate Blanchett a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn, but we're now getting excited by the imminent arrival of Red Tails from Star Wars creator George Lucas.

Produced and heavily funded by Lucas, based on true events and starring Cuba Goodng Jnr and Terence Howard, Red Tails tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II. Admittedly the film hasn't received the best of reviews to date, and has even suffered criticism from the aviation community, but that won't stop us from watching it.

And while we're on the matter of aviation-related films, we here that Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing a meticulously restored version of Wings, the classic 1927 black and white film about World War I fighter pilots, on DVD and Blue-ray. Click here to watch the trailer on IMDb.
